Players

Ray Black

Raymond Anthony Black (born June 26, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants.

Black had Tommy John surgery during his senior year in high school. He recovered from the surgery and played college baseball at the University of Pittsburgh for the Panthers from 2009 to 2011. He appeared in 30 games with Pittsburgh, finishing with a 10.95 earned run average (ERA) with 41 strikeouts and 41 walks in 37 innings.

Despite his college numbers, Black was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the seventh round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Giants rather than return to Pittsburgh. Before the 2012 season, Black suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The injury would cause him to miss the next two seasons while he recovered. Black finally made his professional debut in 2014 with the Augusta GreenJackets. In August he was promoted to the San Jose Giants. He finished the year with a 3.57 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings. After the season, the Giants assigned him to the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League.

Daniel Carbonell

Daniel Carbonell Arredondo is a Cuban professional baseball outfielder in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Carbonell played for Camagüey in the Cuban National Series for four years. In October 2013, Carbonell and Orlando Pérez defected from Cuba.

Carbonell signed a four-year, $1.4 million major league contract with the San Francisco Giants on June 16, 2014. He played in ten games for the Arizona Giants of the Rookie-level Arizona League, before receiving a promotion to the San Jose Giants of the Class A-Advanced California League.

Michael Cederoth

Michael Sean Cederoth (born November 25, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization. He previously played college baseball for the San Diego State Aztecs.

Cederoth attended Steele Canyon High School in Spring Valley, California. The Arizona Diamondbacks selected Cederoth in the 41st round of the 2011 MLB Draft, but he did not sign. He enrolled at San Diego State University to play college baseball for the San Diego State Aztecs baseball team. In 2012, his sophomore year, he suffered a broken jaw when a line drive struck him in the face. Due to inconsistency in his freshman and sophomore year, the Aztecs transitioned Cederoth into a relief pitcher in 2014, his junior year. Serving as the Aztecs' closer, Cederoth had a 6-2 win-loss record, 20 saves, a 2.28 earned run average, and 55 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings pitched. After the season, Louisville Slugger named Cederoth a First Team All-American.

The Minnesota Twins selected Cederoth in the third round, with the 79th overall selection, of the 2014 MLB Draft. After he signed, he pitched for the Elizabethton Twins of the Rookie-level Appalachian League where he posted a 4-2 record with a 3.55 ERA. In 2015, he pitched for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, where he went 1-4 with a 4.08 ERA. Cederoth returned to the Kernels in 2016 where he greatly improved, going 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 47.2 innings pitched. The Twins released Cederoth in 2017 and he was signed by the San Francisco Giants. The Giants assigned him to the San Jose Giants, where he posted a 3.20 ERA in 25.1 innings.

Sam Coonrod

Samuel Timothy Coonrod (born September 22, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Coonrod played college baseball at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the fifth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. He made his professional debut that year with the Arizona League Giants. Coonrod played for the Augusta GreenJackets in 2015.

Tyler Cyr

Tyler O'Neil Cyr (born May 5, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Cyr attended John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, California and played college baseball at Skyline College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 10th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut with the Arizona League Giants and was promoted to the Augusta GreenJackets during the season.

In 2017, Cyr played for the Richmond Flying Squirrels. After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League and was selected to play in the Fall Stars Game.

Steven Duggar

Steven Michael Duggar (born November 4, 1993) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Duggar attended James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, South Carolina and played college baseball at Clemson University. After his junior year, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.

Duggar made his professional debut with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. He started 2016 with the San Jose Giants and was promoted to the Richmond Flying Squirrels in June.

Aramis Garcia

Aramis Michael Garcia (born January 12, 1993) is an American professional baseball catcher for the San Francisco Giants organization.

Garcia attended Pembroke Pines Charter High School in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The St. Louis Cardinals selected him in the 20th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft, but he did not sign a contract with them. He enrolled at Florida International University (FIU) to play college baseball for the FIU Panthers. In 2014, Garcia was named the Conference USA Baseball Player of the Year and a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award.

The San Francisco Giants selected Garcia in the second round, with the 52nd overall selection, of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. The Giants signed Garcia to a contract with a $1.1 million signing bonus. He began the 2015 season with the Augusta GreenJackets of the Class A South Atlantic League, where he was named a midseason All-Star. He received a midseason promotion to the San Jose Giants of the Class A-Advanced California League, and an invitation to spring training in 2016 as a non-roster player. The Giants added him to their 40-man roster after the 2017 season.

Ian Gardeck

Ian James Gardeck (born November 21, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants organization.

Gardeck graduated from Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He began his college baseball career at the University of Dayton, before transferring to Angelina College for his sophomore year. The Chicago White Sox selected Gardeck in the eighth round, with the 261st overall selection, of the 2011 MLB draft, but Gardeck instead transferred to the University of Alabama to continue his college career. The San Francisco Giants selected him in the 16th round of the 2012 MLB draft, and he signed with the Giants.

After the 2015 season, the Giants added Gardeck to their 40-man roster.

Joan Gregorio

Joan Gregorio (born January 12, 1992) is a professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants.

The Giants added Gregorio to their 40-man roster on November 20, 2014. On July 1, 2017, Gregorio was suspended for the remainder of the season after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

Tyler Herb

Tyler Herb (born April 28, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization

Herb attended Williams Valley High School in Tower City, Pennsylvania and played college baseball at Coastal Carolina University. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 29th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. In July 2017, Herb was traded to the San Francisco Giants for cash.

The Giants added him to their 40-man roster after the 2017 season.

Chase Johnson

Chase Lucas Johnson (born January 9, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Johnson was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 26th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft out of Fallbrook Union High School in Fallbrook, California. He did not sign with the Rangers and played college baseball at California Polytechnic State University. He was then drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round of the 2013 MLB draft. He signed with the Giants and made his professional debut with the Arizona League Giants and later promoted to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Johnson spent 2014 with the Augusta GreenJackets. He started 2015 with the San Jose Giants and was promoted to the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The Giants added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.

Phil McCormick

Philip David McCormick (born September 7, 1988) is a professional baseball pitcher currently with the Richmond Flying Squirrels in the San Francisco Giants minor league system.

He was born in Wildwood, Missouri and attended Lafayette High School in Wildwood before going University of Missouri. He spent four seasons playing at Missouri, going 0-1 with a 8.10 ERA in four relief appearances his first season (2008), 1-1 with a 7.25 ERA in 30 games (two starts) his sophomore year, 6-1 with a 4.40 ERA in 36 relief appearances in 2010 (breaking the school record for appearances in a season) and 1-1 with a 5.63 ERA in five games his last year. The Giants drafted him in the 31st round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft.

In his first professional season, he went 1-1 with a 1.19 ERA in 23 games for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. He led all Northwest League pitchers with over 20 appearances in ERA and led the team in saves (6) and WHIP (min. 15 IP; 0.989). In 2012, he was 3-1 with a 3.48 mark in 61 games for the San Jose Giants, striking out 54 in 51 2/3 innings and leading the California League in games. In 2013, he was 4-5 with 3 saves and a 3.97 ERA in 58 games for the Richmond Flying Squirrels, again averaging more than a strikeout per innings. He was second in the Eastern League in appearances and first on the team. He led the league in holds. Entering 2014, he was listed among the Giants top prospects. That year, he was 2-4 with a 3.74 ERA in 50 games for Richmond. He began 2015 back with Richmond.

Heath Quinn

Heath Mitchell Quinn (born June 7, 1995) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Quinn attended Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 12th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign and attended Samford University, where he played college baseball. After his junior year, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

Quinn made his professional debut with the Arizona League Giants and was later promoted to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes and San Jose Giants during the season.

Chris Shaw

Christopher James Shaw is an American professional baseball first baseman. He played college baseball at Boston College. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft and was assigned to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, where he batted .287 with 12 home runs and 30 RBI's. In 2016, Shaw began the season with the San Jose Giants, and was later promoted to the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Shaw ended 2016 with a .267 batting average, 21 home runs, and 85 RBI's.

D. J. Snelten

Donald Marek Snelten (born May 29, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Snelten attended Lakes Community High School in Lake Villa, Illinois. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 30th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign and played college baseball at the University of Minnesota. After his junior season, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the ninth round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

Snelten made his professional debut with the Arizona League Giants. He pitched 2017 with the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Sacramento River Cats. After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League. The Giants added him to their 40-man roster after the 2017 season.
